Our desire is to help you know what God wants you to know so you can be the person that God wants you to be. God wrote the Bible so that we would have a trustworthy standard of what to believe and how to live. Some people think the Bible is an old, outdated book that is irrelevant to the issues they face in life. Others have a hard time understanding the Bible. Our passion is to help people understand what the Bible teaches and show them how it practically applies to every area of their lives. It is our prayer that the truth of God's Word will have a profound impact on your life.
LBC LEADERSHIP
Purpose Statement Of Lakeside Bible Church
Lakeside Bible Church exists to glorify God by proclaiming and living the truth of His Word so that people come to know Jesus Christ and grow to be like Him.
The Big Picture Of The Bible
The goal of Lakeside Bible Church is to help you strengthen your relationship with God by gaining a deeper understanding of His Word, the Bible. Many people today know bits and pieces of the Bible but have no clear, concise understanding of what the Bible teaches. The following is a simple summary of the main message of the Bible.
1. GOD: WHO HE IS = There is a God who deserves to be glorified.
• “The God who made the world and all things in it…is Lord of heaven and earth….He Himself gives life and breath to all things; and He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth…that they should seek God” (Acts 17:24-27).
• The Bible explains that God created us and sustains us and therefore has the right to absolute authority over our lives. He made us in His image so that we would seek to know Him and glorify Him with our lives (i.e. love Him, honor Him, obey Him, and serve Him).
2. MAN: OUR PROBLEM = Man refuses to glorify God and deserves to be punished.
• “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God….There is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God….the wages of sin is death” (Ps. 14:2; Rom. 3:11, 23; 6:23).
• Instead of seeking to know and glorify God, we naturally rebel against His authority over us and choose to live our own way. The Bible says that failing to honor and obey God is sin. The just penalty for our sin is death; not just physical death, but eternal separation from God in hell.
3. JESUS: GOD’S SOLUTION = Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead so we can be saved.
• “For while we were still helpless…God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God” (Rom. 5:6, 8-9).
• Because of His great love, God has provided a way for us to be rescued from hell. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin. Jesus endured the punishment that we deserve and rose again to prove that God’s wrath had been satisfied and God’s justice had been served, making it possible for God to forgive us and offer us eternal life.
4. YOU: THE RESPONSE = The command to repent and believe in Jesus Christ must be obeyed.
• “Seek the Lord while He may be found…Let the wicked forsake His way…and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him….He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (Isa. 55:6-7; Jn. 3:36).
• God simply requires us to turn from our sinful rebellion against Him and trust in the death and resurrection of His Son as the only way to be reconciled to Him. We must admit we are sinners who are separated from God, believe that we are forgiven through faith alone in the finished work of Christ, and commit our entire life to obey Him as our Savior and Lord.
Do You Believe?
Do you understand these four basic truths that the Bible teaches? Have you applied them to your life? If you have not, we pray that you would ask God to help you to understand these truths and to enable you to turn from your sinful way of life and trust in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. If you believe God has answered your prayer, tell someone about it. Tell us about it! We encourage you (as God's Word does) to read the Bible and pray to God every day, and find a church where you can learn more about the Bible and grow in your relationship with God.
