Standing Before the Savior: The Judgement Seat of Christ
Selected Scriptures
THEME: “Do you realize that we are only a heartbeat away from a fixed state of reward?” This phrase reminds us that we are but one heartbeat, just one breath away from what our heavenly reward will be throughout all eternity. If Christ would come back or our hearts should take its last beat, and we come into that fixed state of reward, is it what we want it to be? Is it all Christ wants it to be? The Bible teaches that someday the church will stand before our Savior and we will be judged. This morning, we will examine seven elements of the Judgment Seat of Christ so that we might live in anticipation of this heavenly reward.
I. The Meaning of the Judgement Seat of Christ. )Matthew 12:26; 1 Corinthians 3:9-15; Colossians 3:24-25; Romans 14:10; 2 Corinthians 5:10)
II. The Judge at the Judgment Seat of Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10; John 5:22, 27; Matthew 28:18)
III. The Subjects of the Judgment Seat of Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10)
IV. The Time of the Judgment Seat of Christ. (1 Corinthians and Revelation 22:12)
V. The Place of the Judgment Seat of Christ. (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
VI. The Basis of the Examination at the Judgment Seat of Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:10-15)
VII. The Result of the Examination at the Judgment Seat of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:12-15)
Is there anything in your life right now that creates shame at the thought of standing before your Savior? How will you use the thought of gaining reward to the glory of God in order to honor and obey Him more fully?
