The Privilege and Necessity of Christian Unity in Times of Turmoil

We are all familiar with the phrase, “No man is an island,” and will eagerly agree that living in loving community is a thing to be desired by all people—especially when times are tough. And yet, we often treat the pursuit of Christian unity within the church as a fairytale dream rather than a privilege and necessity of our faith. After all, our lives are endlessly busy, we are all so vastly different from one another, and our personal sin struggles can often prove unbudgingly divisive. As a result, the kind of Christian unity the Bible invites us to experience can seem elusive, if not altogether impossible. And yet, the Lord Jesus Christ died to make this impossible task possible. He died in order to free us from our bondage to selfish desires, murderous pride, and grumbling attitudes—all of which stand in opposition to our desire for unity within the body of Christ. He died, so that even in the hardest of times, we can rejoice in hope together.

We invite you to join us for a weekend focused on the topic of unity between believers. We will look at select passages from the book of Philippians and consider why exactly this elusive characteristic of Christ’s church is absolutely essential for our lives as Christians and how we, as women, can often sabotage our own efforts toward unity with one another. Above all, we invite you to taste of the goodness of the Lord as we zero in on the One who graciously unifies his people through his own selfless love.
