The Devoted Church

January 26, 2014 Speaker: Brian Mckenzie

Topic: Church Passage: Acts 2:42–47

Sunday Service

Acts 2:42-47

In this morning's message, Special Guest Bryan McKenzie, of Grace Bible Church in Clute, Texas, teaches from the Book of Acts on FOUR TRUTHS ABOUT DEVOTION that characterize the devoted church so that by the power within us, we might become the devoted church that glorifies God:

1. THE FOUNDATION OF THE DEVOTION
Who is devoted and why? This was a church made up of people who were new creations, born again through the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:3-8). These people were not merely professing to be Christians, but they truly possessed Christ and His gospel.

2. THE FOCUS OF DEVOTION
Teaching of the Apostles, Fellowship (Romans 12:10, Philippians 2:3-4), breaking bread, and prayer.

3. THE FREQUENCY OF DEVOTION
The devotion of the believers of this church toward the Lord and toward each other was unceasing.

4. THE FRUIT OF DEVOTION
When the focus of devotion is present among the church, the result is a sense of awe with gladness and sincerity of worship for God and is demonstrated through their fruits of witness to others for Christ.

Some ways we can participate in the devoted church:
a) Be devoted to Sunday mornings at LBC
b) Be active in Grow Groups
c) Participate in Student Ministries and Counseling
d) Attend Concert of Prayer services on Wednesdays

May the Lord continue to grow Lakeside Bible Church and give us hearts to be all that He wants us to be so that we may become the devoted church that magnifies Him and glorifies God the Father.
