John 18:1-12
In John’s account of Jesus’ arrest, there are FIVE INDICATIONS that Jesus was not unexpectedly captured but rather sovereignly controlled His entire arrest and voluntarily surrendered Himself in order to carry out the divine plan of redemption which required His sacrificial death.
1. THE SECLUDED GARDEN (vv. 1-2)
2. THE STUNNED MOB (vv. 3-6)
3. THE SHIELDED DISCIPLES (vv. 7-9)
4. THE SEVERED EAR (v. 10)
5. THE SUBMITTED WILL (vv. 11-12)
Thank God for the hope and encouragement you gain from this passage. Ask Him to help you submit to His will for your life no matter what He ordains for you and trust Him that He is in complete control.
