Daniel 11:1-45
In this chapter, Gabriel, the messenger angel, revealed to Daniel both the near and distant future of Israel. He prophesied how God would use the surrounding Gentile nations to continually chasten Israel until the nation is ready to receive their Messiah, Jesus Christ, when He returns to rescue them from the Antichrist and to establish His kingdom here on earth. In light of this disheartening prophecy, Gabriel reassured Daniel that even though Israel would have to suffer much, they would be taken care of by the archangel Michael who God has specially assigned to guard and protect Israel.
1. WARS IN THE NEAR FUTURE (vv. 1-35)
A. WARS BETWEEN PERSIA AND GREECE (vv. 1-4)
B. WARS BETWEEN EGYPT AND SYRIA (vv. 5-20)
C. WARS OF ANTIOCH’S EPIPHANIES ON ISRAEL (vv. 21-35)
2. THE FINAL WAR IN THE DISTANT FUTURE (vv. 36-45)
Thank God that He is sovereignly in control of the past, present, and future. Ask Him to grant you grace to endure whatever suffering/chastening He ordains for your life and to use it to make you more like Him (cf. Romans 8:28-29).
