Selected Scriptures

Ever since Christ’s church began on the Day of Pentecost, His followers have gathered together on the first day of the week to praise and thank God for loving them and rescuing them from His wrath against sin through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son Jesus. This new Testament gathering or assembly of God’s rescued people was patterned after the worship gatherings of God’s people in the Old Testament beginning at Mt. Sinai and later in the Tabernacle and the Temple, which both served as God’s dwelling place and the place of worship for the people of Israel. Above all else, we come to church to worship God, and the must always be our main priority when we gather together. There are SIX ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES involved in corporate worship that honors and pleases God. In other words, there are six things God’s people must do whenever we assemble in order to worship God the way He desires and deserves.

1. SINGING
2. PRAYING
3. OBSERVING
4. SERVING
5. GIVING
6. LISTENING

Praise and thank God for His all-satisfying, soul-thrilling, sin-killing glory and majesty. Ask Him to help you learn to sing and pray in a way that blesses both Him and others.
