Philippians 2:5-11
Verses 5-11 in chapter 2 of Philippians encapsulates the entire Christmas story and essentially characterizes the drama of Christ’s redemption. As such, these verses can be thought of as an act that can be divided into three scenes, beginning with the cradle and leading to death at the cross at Golgotha, and culminating with ascension to the glorious throne room in heaven. The first scene begins with the incarnation of Christ; Scene Two takes us to the crucifixion of Christ, and Scene Three culminates with God the Father bestowing upon His Son Jesus the Crown of Glory and restoring Him to His rightful place in heaven. One day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all!
