Set Your Hope

February 19, 2017 Speaker: Kyle Jenison

Topic: Hope Passage: 1 Peter 1:13

Sunday Service

1 Peter 1:13
Set Your Hope

THEME: We need hope. We need to set our hope. We need to set our hope fully. And we need to set our hope fully in the right place. After praising God for how great a salvation we have in Jesus Christ (1:3-12), Peter now turns our attention to how great a response we should have toward God. In 1 Peter 1:13-21, the born-again believer is called to a life of hope (1:13), holiness (1:14-16), and honor (1:17-21). Focusing on just verse 13, it is clear that we have three specific instructions to help us set our hope fully on the future grace in Jesus Christ. With this hope of heaven as an anchor for our soul, no storm will be able to move us in this life.

1. GIRD UP

2. SOBER UP

3. LOOK UP

Spend some time thanking God for the many blessings of our salvation in Jesus Christ. Confess any sinful thoughts or actions that do not fit the new life you now have in Him. Consider the weight of future glory when Christ returns. Meditate on certain Scriptures that strengthen your hope in God.
