Our Glorious Hope

Easter Sunday Service

Our Glorious Hope
Philippians 3:20-21

THEME: Whenever we hear the word “resurrection,” particularly on Easter Sunday, we naturally think about Jesus rising from the dead. But it is also important and appropriate for us to consider how Christ’s resurrection provides us with both a preview and the proof of our future resurrection when Jesus returns. Someday all who have committed their lives to follow and obey Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will experience the same kind of supernatural transformation that He did when He rose from the dead, This amazing change will happen in the twinkling of an eye when our perishable body will miraculously morph into one that is imperishable just like the resurrected, glorified body Jesus has. In these two verses, Paul explained how understanding and staying focused on our coming glorification is critical to us being conformed to the image of Christ. He listed THREE WAYS to keep focused and motivated in our pursuit of Christlikeness.

1. Exist like this world is not your home (v. 20a)

2. Expect Christ to return for you at any moment (v. 20b)

3. Envision what you will be like in heaven (v. 21)

Thank God that while He may not have said enough in His Word to satisfy your curiosity regarding your future glorified state, He said enough to supply you with plenty of comfort and hope while you wait here in your soon-cursed, pain-racked body of death for His promise of glorification to be fulfilled.
