Righteous Rage

Romans 1:18-32

THEME: The wrath of God is the most despised and downplayed attribute of God. We like to talk about and play up the nice attributes of God like His love, grace, mercy, faithfulness, and goodness, but for som ereason we have a problem with His wrath. What's more, we realize God's wrath is unfashionable in today's culture so we avoid bringing it up in conversation. We treat it like Christianity's dark ugly secret. However, we must realize that there are more references in the Bible to God's anger and fury than His love and tenderness. This passage in Romans is the classic biblical description of God's wrath. No other passage in God's Word provides a clearer understanding of what is without question the most sobering, terrifying attribute of God. In order to impress on his readers why it is so urgent to preach the gospel, Paul explained THREE PARTICULARS of God's righteous rage against man's unrighteous rebellion against Him.

1. THE REVELATION OF GOD'S RAGE (v. 18-20)

2. THE REASON FOR GOD'S RAGE (vv. 21-23)

3. THE RESULT OF GOD'S RAGE (vv. 24-32)

Praise God for graciously making Himself known to you through His creation and your conscience. Thank Him for pouring out His wrath on His Son so that you would never have to experience His wrath against your sin. Ask Him to grant you a sense of urgency to share the gospel in order to help people escape the wrath to come.
