Living Like A Dead Man

Romans 6:8-14

THEME:  Romans 6 is the Christian’s emancipation proclamation. Paul wanted us to know that when we receive God’s gift of salvation through faith in Christ, we are no longer under the domination of sin and death but we are made alive with Christ and freed to live a holy and righteous life by obeying and serving Him as our new master. The obvious question of any honest Christian is “If I am no longer a slave to sin then why do I still sin so much?” Paul’s goal in these verses was to help us apply the fact that we are “dead to sin and alive to God” by explaining how we as Christians can experience or enjoy our freedom from sin. He laid out THREE WAYS to overcome sin in our life or THREE STEPS to stop sinning so much.

1. COMPREHENSION - Whet we need to KNOW - involves our MIND (vv. 8-10)

2. CONSIDERATION - What we need to BELIEVE - involves our HEART (v. 11)

3. CONSECRATION - What we need to DO - involves our WILL (vv. 12-14)

Praise and thank God that you no longer have to sin. Ask Him to help you fully comprehend that you have been freed from sin. Ask Him to help you constantly apply that in practical ways in your life. Ask Him to help you completely consecrate yourself to honor and serve Him and to use all your energies and faculties for His purposes and for His glory.
