Gutsy For The Gospel

2 Timothy 1:8-18

THEME: Evangelism is scary. We all know that uncomfortable feeling of being embarrassed and intimidated to tell others about Christ. We have all chickened out more than once when we had the opportunity to share the gospel with someone but we didn't. In this passage, Paul gave Timothy SIX REASONS why he should be gutsy for the gospel. These are the same six reasons that should inspire and motivate us to be bold, unashamed witnesses for Christ.

1. We should be gutsy for the gospel because we have been called to suffer for the gospel (v. 8a).

2. We should be gutsy for the gospel because we have been gloriously saved through the power of the gospel (vv. 8b-10).

3. We should be gutsy for the gospel because we have been appointed to proclaim the gospel (v. 11).

4.We should be gutsy for the gospel because we are absolutely convinced that our life is secure along with the gospel (v. 12).

5. We should be gutsy for the gospel because we have been entrusted with the steardship of the gospel (vv. 13-14)

6. We should be gutsy for the gospel because we have been preceded by others who have been gutsy for the gospel (vv. 15-18).

Thank God for choosing you to be saved. Ask God to forgive you for being fearful and ashamed of telling others about what Jesus has done for you and them. Ask God to grant you the courage to "play the man" when it comes to sharing the gospel and to use you to be a light for Christ in your home, in your neighborhood, in your workplace, in your school, and in your community.
