As Christians, we must always be prepared to defend what we believe and why we believe it. There are basically two ways to defend the Christian faith. There is he evidential or rational approach which seeks to prove Christianity is true using reason and evidence. And there is the suppositional approach, which simply presupposes Christianity is true. There is a huge difference between proving Christianity is true and presupposing it is true, and if you understand this simple yet profound difference, it will totally revolutionize the way you share your faith.. The gospel isn't an opinion to be proved; it's a truth to be proclaimed. There are TWO FOUNDATIONAL TRUTHS that God has revealed in His Word that compel us to evangelize presuppositionally and that eliminate the frustration and fear that so often accompany our attempts to tell others about Christ.
1. MAN'S DEPRAVITY (cf. Genesis 6:5; Jeremiah 13:23; Romans 1:18-19; 8:7-8; 1 Corinthians 2:14)
2. GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY (cf. John 1:12-13; 6:65; 15:16; Romans 8:29-30; 9:16)
TWO DIVINE WEAPONS WE MUST USE AND ELY ON IN EVANGELISM
1. THE WORD OF GOD [Isaiah 55:10-11; Jeremiah 23:29; Luke 24:32; Acts 17; 2 Timothy 3:15; 1 Peter 1:23]
2. THE SPIRIT OF GOD [See John 16:8; Luke 24:48-49; Acts 1:8; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 6:17]
Praise and thank God that He is sovereign over the salvation of sinners. Ask Him to provide you daily opportunities to explain the gospel to others and to help you trust Him for the results.
