Groanings For Glory

July 7, 2019 Speaker: Ken Ramey Series: Romans

Topic: Heaven Passage: Romans 8:18–25

Life is all about perspective. We live in fallen bodies in a fallen world, but there is hope for a better life and a better world. What comforts and sustains us during our present, temporary trials and tribulations is looking ahead to our future, eternal glory in heaven where all our pain and sorrow will be relieved and everything will be restored to a state of perfection. It is inspiring when we view God’s master plan of redemption not just personally but universally. In this passage, Paul provided us a panoramic picture of what God’s future plans for us and the whole universe will look like. The destiny of the cosmos is inseparably linked with the destiny of Christians; whatever happens to us will happen to the rest of God’s creation. There is so much more for us to look forward to than just going to heaven. There is the prospect of us being made perfectly like Christ in order to properly reign over the new heavens and the new earth the way God intended in the beginning. Here in vv. 18-25, Paul explained TWO PROSPECTS which provide us hope as we patiently endure life’s pain and sorrow and eagerly anticipate Christ’s return.
