God's COVID-19 Response

March 15, 2020 Speaker: Ken Ramey Series: Stand Alone Sermons

Topic: Suffering Passage: Psalm 91:1–16

"I will say to the Lord, ""My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!"" Psalm 91:2

Psalm 91 serves as God’s response to COVID-19 in which He reassures His people that our safety and well-being are His highest priority and that He does everything in His power to protect us and keep us safe and secure. It provides great comfort and confidence for those of us living in a fallen world where we are exposed to disease, disaster, and death. The Psalmist began by expressing his own personal trust in God for security and protection. He continued by encouraging us to trust God as well by describing all the ways He protects those who trust in Him. God Himself concluded the Psalm by confirming what the Psalmist had been saying and promising to protect and deliver all who know Him, love Him, and call out to Him for help. The Psalm breaks up nicely into THREE SECTIONS as follows:

1. THE PROFESSION OF FAITH IN GOD’S PROTECTION (vv. 1-2)

2. THE PORTRAYAL OF GOD’S PROTECTION (vv. 3-13)

3. THE PROMISE OF GOD’S PROTECTION (vv. 14-16)
