Category: LBCRejoice & Tremble: What It Means To Fear God
The fear of God is one of the most fundamental and foundational teachings of Scripture. And yet it is a concept that is often misconstrued and misapplied by believers and unbelievers alike. The Bible makes some definitive statements about fearing God. For instance, Solomon said that “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom” (Prov. 9:10) and “The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person” (Ecc. 12:13). In other words, life from beginning to end is all about fearing God. And those who fail to fear God will suffer the consequences on judgment day when they stand before God who is likened to a consuming fire (Heb. 12:29). That’s why we are devoting an entire weekend to study this profound subject together.
