Harvey Prayer Meeting

Beloved,

I’m sure you’d agree with me that blue skies never looked so good as they did last night after not seeing them for four days!

Yesterday I was reminded of what God said to His people through the prophet Isaiah: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you” (Isa. 43:2).

All of us have had an opportunity to claim and cling to God’s presence amid the fear and anxiety that Hurricane Harvey brought to so many of our lives.

As of this morning, we have made contact with almost everyone in our church, and thankfully, only a couple homes were damaged by the storm and we have work crews helping those families.

Obviously, our local community was not as hard hit as those who live to the south and east of us.

As rescue efforts transition to recovery efforts in Houston, we as the body of Christ have a God-ordained opportunity to love and serve people who need help and hope in the midst of their devastating loss.

We have been in contact with city and county officials as well as other churches in the area to see how we can best serve our community at this time.

We also have been contacted by some like-minded churches in other parts of the state and around the country who are taking benevolent offerings and want to send money and teams to help with the recovery efforts.

As we put together a game plan for how we can practically serve as the hands and feet of Christ, we believe the most important thing we can do right now is pray.

So we want to invite you to a special Prayer Meeting tonight at 7:00pm in our Worship Center so we can express our thanks to God for His protection during the storm and ask Him to use us to bring Him glory and people to Christ during this tremendous ministry opportunity (cf. Mt. 5:16).

There will be no childcare but please feel free to bring your kids as this is an occasion for them to experience the priority and power of prayer in our times of need.

Again, if you have any personal needs, please contact your Grow Group Leaders or the Deacons who have a plan in place to care for our members.
