Topic: Gospel of John Passage: John 3:22–3:36

John 3:22-36
The final verses of John 3 reveal to us the greatness of John in Jesus' eyes and the greatness of Jesus in John's eyes.
1.  JOHN'S HUMILITY (vv. 22-30)
Five reasons why Jesus thought John was so great
 • He faithfully fulfilled his ministry to the end (vv. 22-24)
 • He confidently rested in the sovereignty of God (vv. 25-27)
 • He accurately perceived his role and capabilities (v. 28)
 • He greatly rejoiced in the privilege of serving Christ (v. 29)
 • He willingly minimized himself to magnify Christ (v. 30)
2.  JOHN'S TESTIMONY (vv. 31-36)
Five reasons why John thought Jesus was so great
 • He originally descended from heaven and ranked higher than him (v. 31)
 • He perfectly revealed the truth about God (vv. 32-33)
 • He was fully endowed with the Holy Spirit's power (v. 34)
 • He was dearly aboved by the Father and bestowed with all His authority (v. 35)
 • He was ultimately designated by God as the only way of salvation (v. 36)
Thank God for graciously providing a way for you to be delivered from ever having to experience His wrath against your sin. Ask Him to help you decrease so that Christ can increase in your life.
