Philippians 2:14-16

From the moment we come out of the womb, we are skilled at expressing our dissatisfaction or annoyance about things. Even before we are able to talk, we fuss and complain when we’re hungry or when we’re tired or when we need to haver our diaper changed or when we don’t get what we want. And the fussing and whining continues throughout our lives. We tend to complain about everything, the weather, the traffic, food, service, houses, cars, parents, kids, siblings, neighbors, chores, jobs, bosses, classes, teachers, coaches, refs, churches, pastors, etc. In verses 14-16, Paul laid down a RULE about complaining and proceeded to explain the REASONS for the rule. Nothing threatens the harmony of a church more than critical moments or questions by a handful of disgruntled members. Furthermore, nothing hurts the testimony of a church in its community more than when its members grouse and bicker among themselves. By simply not complaining, we will be radically different than everyone else in the world and be able to shine forth the light of the gospel to those who desperately need Christ.

1. THE RULE TO NEVER COMPLAIN (v. 14)

2. THE REASONS TO NEVER COMPLAIN (vv. 15-16)
• It demonstrates that we are truly saved.
• It shines the light of the gospel to the world.
• It brings joy to our spiritual leaders/mentors.

Thank God for being merciful to you in light of all the times you complain. Ask Him to help you always trust that He is in control, wise, good, loving, and fair and always submit to His will for your life. Ask Him to cause your life to shine brightly and to burden you to boldly share the gospel with others.
