The Final Future Of The Unbeliever: Hell

THEME: There are many things in life that we can get wrong, that aren't the end of the world. But there is one thing we absolutely cannot get wrong: the end of the world! Its where you and I will end up some day for all eternity at the moment of our death. And we, as Americans, are very confused about the subject because while 70% of all Americans believe in hell, only .5% believe they will go to hell when they die. This is a serious misunderstanding about what hell is and who goes there. This is NOT something you want to get wrong. The good news is that we don't have to get this wrong because the Bible clearly communicates what hell IS and WHO will go there. Our purpose this morning is to develop a biblical view of hell by examining 3 aspects of hell.

1. THE POSITIONS ON HELL

     A. Universalism (2 Thess. 1:9; Rev. 20:15)

     B. Annihilationism (Luke 16:19-31; Matt. 25:46)

     C. Metaphorical D. Literal (Luke 16:19-31; Jude 7; Pet. 2:9; Rev. 14:9-22; Rev.               20:10-15)

2. THE PARTICULARS OF HELL

     A. It is a place

     B. It is the final, eternal state

     C. It is conscious suffering

     D. It is eternal fire

     E. It is darkness

     F. It is second death

     G. It has degrees of punishment

3. THE PROBLEM OF HELL (Ps. 100:3; Acts 17:24-34)
