Title: Evangelism God’s Way

Evangelism is about setting apart Christ as Lord in our hearts and always being ready to make a defense to everyone for the hope we have within us (1 Peter 3:15). As such, we should not be embarrassed to defend our faith in Jesus Christ because it is not within our power to bring unbelievers to salvation. It is the power of God through His Word that saves souls. Our responsibility is simply to share the truth of God’s Word and trust that God in His sovereignty will carry out His will (Isaiah 55:10-11, John 16:8). Indeed, God is totally in control of the process of salvation (2 Thessalonians 2:13).

When sharing the gospel message with others, we should take a ‘presuppositional’ approach, which assumes that God’s Word is a truth to be proclaimed, rather than an opinion to be argued about. The Bible tells us that God’s Word is truth, and that no other truth exists. (Isaiah 45:22).

TWO FOUNDATIONAL TRUTHS that enable us to evangelize God’s way:

1. MAN’S DEPRAVITY - Genesis 6:5, Jeremiah 13:23, Romans 1:18-19, Romans 8:7-8, 1 Corinthians 2:14

2. GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY - John 1:12, John 6:65, John 15:16, Romans 8:29, Romans 9:16, Ephesians 2:1-10

These fundamental truths should relieve us of any anxiety we might have about sharing the gospel message with others. It should also relieve us of the urge to defend the veracity of God’s Word with worldly or intellectual facts and logic. When we put our trust and dependence on our heavenly Father, we are able to joyfully share our faith with others. It is then that we glorify God by being salt of the earth!
