Our Internal Intercessor

Topic: Holy Spirit Passage: Romans 8:26–27
There is nothing in the Christian faith more complex and more mysterious than the Trinity. God revealed Himself in the Bible as the one and only true God who exists in three different persons equal in essence but distinct in their roles or functions. Obviously, there is much mystery regarding the doctrine of the Trinity and whenever the Trinity shows up in a passage, there is much mystery involved in interpreting and explaining it. That is true of this puzzling passage which is difficult, even impossible, to fully unpack and fully understand. In vv. 26-27, we are given one of the most intimate glances in the Bible of the inner workings of the Godhead. Essentially, what we see here is God praying to God and we are the objects and recipients of those prayers! What a confusing but comforting concept! Nevertheless, Paul explained THREE TRUTHS about the intercessory ministry of the Holy Spirit that give us hope we are not alone in our present suffering and patient waiting.
